Bio

Charles Blem retired in 2005 after 36 years at VCU and lives with his best research partner (Leann) at the foot of the Mission Mountains on the Flathead Indian Reservation in western Montana. During his time at VCU he was awarded the Humanities and Sciences Lectureship (Elske Smith) award and the H & S Distinguished Scholar Award. Leann and Charlie were co-winners of the Klamm Award for national service in ornithology and Charlie recently was recognized by his high school as one of its first enrollees in its hall of distinction. A VCU scholarship in the Blem's name supports students interested in vertebrate ecology or anatomy.
