The VCU Department of Biology's innovative curriculum is seamlessly integrated with research and emphasizes the areas of cell regulation, evolution, and ecological processes and applications.
We teach and research a broad range of biological topics from the smallest microbe to an ecosystem; from the environment to human health. As a student, you'll have the opportunity to engage in a wealth of hands-on experiences such as research opportunities, and lab and field courses. Our Mission
The faculty in VCU's Department of Biology work to engage and enlighten the community, provide students in all disciplines with a solid foundation in the biological sciences, and to prepare graduate and undergraduate students for advanced academic study, admission to health programs, employment in laboratory and field programs, jobs in private industry, positions with government agencies, and teaching in secondary schools.
