Accelerated B.S. to M.S. in Biology

If you're interested in fast-tracking your advanced education, the accelerated B.S. and M.S. program is for you.

This program offers students a B.S. and M.S. in Biology in at least five years. Students in the program will complete approved graduate courses during the senior year of their undergraduate program. The two degrees can be earned with a minimum of 138 credits rather than the 150 credits necessary if the two degrees are pursued separately.

As a graduate of the B.S. to M.S. program, you will have completed foundational work in biology, followed by more experience and exposure to specific disciplines within biology. This provides students with a broader range of career opportunities while enhancing their expertise and preparing them for specialized roles within the field of biology.

Time and Cost Savings

The accelerated program enables students to earn both a B.S. and M.S. degree in Biology within a minimum of five years. By completing approved graduate courses during their senior year of undergraduate studies, students can expedite their education journey, enter the job market or pursue studies sooner while benefiting from significant cost savings. By reducing the total credits required, students can minimize their tuition expenses and potentially graduate with less student debt.

Enhanced Competitiveness

Holding a B.S. and M.S. degree in Biology gives students a competitive edge in the job market and when applying to professional programs or doctoral-level graduate studies. Employers and admission committees value the advanced knowledge and experience gained through the accelerated program, increasing students' chances of success

Professional Communications Skills

The program emphasizes training in professional communication, which is crucial for success in various professional settings. Graduates will develop strong communication skills, including scientific writing, presenting research findings, and conveying complex biological concepts effectively.

Guidance and Support

Students in the accelerated programs receive guidance from an undergraduate biology advisor and a graduate program director. This dual support system ensures that students have access to the necessary resources and assistance to navigate their academic journey successfully.

The goal of the accelerated program is to significantly enhance your qualifications to pursue a career in the field of Biology. Alternatively, consider pursuing advanced study in doctoral or professional programs on an accelerated timetable.
